1: Why do you want to join the Reimagine Livelihoods for India Initiative? Why do you think we should offer you a place in the programme (150 words)

As a Student of Public Policy, we were always taught that a good policy is formulated through deep system designs, but when we studied real world policies or case studies, we rarely found one. So, as an individual, I always felt distant from what we were taught and what we saw in real world. After I began working at Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA), I understood that the lack of knowledge of multidisciplinary approach was a significant cause to these often one-dimensional policy making, apart from SDGs and some other policies. This prompted me to expand my horizons to make sure as the next generation of public policy practitioner, I inculcate in myself, the necessary knowledge and rigour to use system thinking in Public Policy. I felt this program at RLI not only gives opportunity to learn about system design, but the 16 months practicum gives me enough time to use the knowledge in real world, all while receiving guidance from very senior system design practitioners. I hope to unlearn, re-learn and develop myself as an individual and public policy professional through this Sprouts program at RLI.
