We established Access Livelihoods in 2005 to find effective ways to address the persistent problems faced by economically marginalised communities. Our work across 26 states in India over the last 20 years has helped us develop and test new livelihood models that transform producers' lives and foster greater self-reliance.

From 2016 to 2025, the Transforming India Initiative (TII) nurtured young changemakers through entrepreneurship and enterprise leadership. But our journey revealed a deeper truth: the livelihood crisis is vast and complex, and women remain the most vulnerable, with the fewest opportunities for dignified work. This reflection gave rise to Reimagine Livelihoods for India (RLI) - a renewed mission that takes this challenge head-on, preparing youth to co-create enterprises and systems that put women’s dignity at the centre of change.
Employs 92% of the Indian workforce and 63% of GDP.
An estimated 60% of farmlands
are at climate risk, and rising temperatures affect urban gig workers.
Unorganised workers have limited access to markets, finance, talent and digital solutions.
Hence, there is a need to create new systems that improve access and are resilient in the era of climate change. RLI aims to build the capacities of youth to reimagine livelihoods.
